Ella's Diaper Changing table

I love being creative and I love making ugly things pretty again. I have always hated throwing out things that could easily be transformed into something else. I have kept this one piece of furniture that was made for the kitchen. I had bought this island or buffet thing over ten years ago and used it for extra storage in the kitchen but we have moved several times and it has been damaged. Now we no longer need it for the kitchen but I just couldnt sell it or throw it away.

It has now been transformed into a diaper changing table for Ella's room. I bought some spray paint to match some left over fabric scraps I used to make the bows and located all my silk flowers that coordinated together.

I LUV Pinterest! My first project is completed.

My lovely sister-in-law introduced me to Pinterest a month or so ago and after that my life has never been the same. If you have been on pinterest you know exactly what I am talking about. There is so much inspiration my mind cant handle it all.

The first thing that has inspired me was these book shelves in a nursery that covered the wall from floor to ceiling. They inspired me because all the books were placed on ledges with the front covers showing. It really looked like something that would seriously inspire my kids to read more.
                                                                      Inspiration

So I went online searching for these ledges. For the length and number of shelves I was needing this project was going to cost me close to $300. There was no way I wanted to spend that kind of money being the tightwad that I am. There must be another way, I must have these shelves. So later that next week I head over to the lumber store came up with a wonderful idea. I bought six 1x4s cut into 5 foot lengths, some "L" brackets and screws with anchors. This whole project cost me only $20 !!!!  Since this project was going in my sons room I did not paint the shelves and left the hardware exposed for a more industrial look.
My $20 Completed Project

Supplies You will need:
*Lumber width x length you desire for example: 2x4, cut into the length you desire on the wall
*"L" brackets
* screws for "L" brackets
*screws with anchors for the wall
*Level
*tape measure
* step ladder
*screw driver

Ella Rose, our newest addition to our family

Ella Rose came into our lives on July 11, 2011 at 4:18 pm. She weighed in at 6 lbs 7 oz and was 19.5 inches long with a healthy set of lungs.
Our day began with a normal doctor's check up early that morning. I told the doctor that I woke up, walked into the bathroom and noticed that my belly was an odd shape. The doctor checked my belly and the baby and could not feel the baby's head this week. She sent me on down to the hospital to have an x-ray taken to see what was going on. We found out that Baby Ella had turned breech on us the night before. Since I was so close to my due date, the doctor thought it was best to go ahead and deliver c-section. After a few tears thinking that I am going to miss out on a natural delivery, I decided to do the c-section knowing it was probably the safest way in the condition the baby and I was in. So we scheduled the c-section for 4 o'clock that afternoon.
The rest of the day seemed to go by pretty fast as we went home and waited for our time to arrive to go and check into the hospital. As we waited I started to get really anxious and nervous about the whole procedure. A sense of saddness fell over me as I was dreaming of the day I was going to deliver her naturally and get to hold her in my arms immediately. Once we arrived at the hospital the nervousness really set in as I started to shake when they put me in the bed and took my blood. I tried to keep saying over and over in my head that I will get to meet my beautiful baby really soon and this will be all worth it.
The procedure went pretty quick and the moment I heard baby Ella's first cry I could no longer hold the tears back. It was such a beautiful sound. Then the nurses brought her to me and I got to see my baby for the first time. I just knew at that moment I was so blessed and my heart was overflowing. She was BEAUTIFUL
